When a veteran leaves the military, he or she comes out of an environment with a lot of comradery, with a tremendous closeness to the people around him or her. The transition into the civilian world can be very difficult. It’s also very hard to translate what was done in the military to a civilian job. We feel an obligation to help these American soldiers enter the business community in as easy a way as possible.
Suits for Soldiers collects business suits, sweaters, shirts, ties, socks, belts for both men and women. We help former soldiers on their first interviews or their first day at work, to have the correct outfit to wear. It helps to get them going. There are many veterans that don’t have the money to pay for professional attire. With the help of our volunteers and donors we help them dress appropriately for these important occasions.
We also try to bring other resources around our soldiers, like resume writing, how to network on LinkedIn and, in general, how the job market works in today’s ever-changing marketplace.
